My mission is to ensure that every child in our district has the opportunity to thrive, both academically and personally. I am committed to equity, mental health, and providing a safe, supportive environment where children can succeed and families feel heard and empowered.

  1. Over 80% of voters polled say they want elected officials to prioritize children and families. What are the top three issues affecting our children and families and how will you make our region a place where all families can thrive?

The top three issues are academic achievement, mental health support, and equitable access to resources. I will prioritize closing the achievement gap by expanding innovative academic pathways, ensuring accessible mental health services, and improving support for underrepresented groups. Our region must foster safe, inclusive environments where families can thrive, and I will work to ensure our schools provide these opportunities.

  2. High quality childcare improves school readiness and parents' workforce participation. What will you do to improve access to high quality childcare and preschool programs in our diverse communities?

I will advocate for expanding access to affordable, high-quality childcare and preschool programs in diverse communities. By partnering with local organizations and state funding initiatives, we can create more childcare slots and support professional development for early childhood educators. This will not only improve school readiness but also enable parents to fully participate in the workforce.

  3. Much of the student achievement gap has been linked to the opportunity gap that children in low-income families and children of color confront (e.g., lack of access to healthy food, preschool, tutors, and enrichment activities). If elected, what will you do to increase equity of opportunity?

I will work to close the opportunity gap by ensuring that all students have access to essential resources such as tutoring, enrichment programs, and nutritious food. I will also support expanding access to after-school programs and mentorship opportunities, particularly for low-income and underrepresented students. Strengthening partnerships with community organizations and businesses will help create pathways for success beyond the classroom.

  4. What steps will you take to improve inclusion and outcomes for children with disabilities and their families in our community?

I will advocate for the expansion of individualized education programs (IEPs) and special education services to ensure children with disabilities receive tailored support. Partnering with families, educators, and community resources, we can provide inclusive environments that meet students' diverse needs and help them achieve their full potential. Training teachers to work with diverse learners will also improve outcomes.

  5. If elected, how will you use the resources of your new role to improve children's well-being and access to mental and behavioral health services?

I will work to expand mental health services within schools, ensuring that every student has access to the support they need. This includes fully staffing wellness centers, offering counseling and peer support programs, and integrating social-emotional learning into the curriculum. By collaborating with mental health professionals and local organizations, we can destigmatize these services and make them accessible to all.
