I strongly believe Mountain View’s diversity is its greatest strength and support our efforts to be a community for all. High quality education is one of our community’s key amenities, and I want to make it available to as many families and children as possible.

  1. Over 80% of voters polled say they want elected officials to prioritize children and families. What are the top three issues affecting our children and families and how will you make our region a place where all families can thrive?

The high cost of housing, access to transportation, and the general struggle to make ends meet directly impact families and children in Mountain View. I supported raising our local minimum wage, piloting a basic income program, and expanding our safe routes to schools. I will continue our efforts to create a community for all if elected to another term on the City Council.

  2. High quality childcare improves school readiness and parents' workforce participation. What will you do to improve access to high quality childcare and preschool programs in our diverse communities?

I support our city’s childcare center partnerships and expanded enrollment for underserved communities. I also support allowing day care as a permitted use in more parts of our city and including it as a community benefit when there are available spaces in eligible projects.

  3. Much of the student achievement gap has been linked to the opportunity gap that children in low-income families and children of color confront (e.g., lack of access to healthy food, preschool, tutors, and enrichment activities). If elected, what will you do to increase equity of opportunity?

I support Mountain View’s partnership with Community Services Agency (CSA) to offer assistance and access to services for low-income families, including our guaranteed income project. I will continue our funding and other support for those efforts and partners.

  4. What steps will you take to improve inclusion and outcomes for children with disabilities and their families in our community?

I strongly support the Magical Bridge playground project at Rengstorff Park. It is designed for all abilities and for neurodiverse individuals. I also support funding housing developments with units specifically set aside for individuals with developmental disabilities.

  5. If elected, how will you use the resources of your new role to improve children's well-being and access to mental and behavioral health services?

I am a longtime board member of CHAC (Community Health Awareness Council, now Pacific Clinics) and have strongly supported access to mental and behavioral health services through partnerships with counseling organizations and our schools. I will continue working with Pacific Clinics and our schools to improve access to mental and behavioral health services.
