Ray Wang is committed to enabling a thriving community for families, children, and future children in Cupertino. Ray's focused on ensuring safe neighborhoods, empowering educational excellence, and creating sustainable community programs that build better family bonds.

  1. Over 80% of voters polled say they want elected officials to prioritize children and families. What are the top three issues affecting our children and families and how will you make our region a place where all families can thrive?

Cupertino can improve its ability to deliver a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. Providing more access to mental health services can help deliver a supportive environment for all family members. Second, public safety is important to Cupertino voters. Ray's canvassed more than 2000 homes and a majority of families do not feel safe from robberies and petty crime. We can improve neighborhood watch and crime prevention education. Ray supports improving safe routes to school and traffic safety for pedestrians, bikers, and motorized vehicles.

  2. High quality childcare improves school readiness and parents' workforce participation. What will you do to improve access to high quality childcare and preschool programs in our diverse communities?

Access to high-quality childcare is the foundation to affordability and opportunity in the Bay Area. Ray will support policies that remove the red tape required to approve new childcare facilities. Further, there are 100's of millions in grants that can be applied for to support private public partnerships. In addition, Ray believes that the city has a role in working with local organizations and employers to expand high quality healthcare.

  3. Much of the student achievement gap has been linked to the opportunity gap that children in low-income families and children of color confront (e.g., lack of access to healthy food, preschool, tutors, and enrichment activities). If elected, what will you do to increase equity of opportunity?

Ray is committed to helping low-income families and children of color in Cupertino access affordable access to quality preschool, after school programs, and tutoring. Cupertino can apply for Federal and state grants for food programs to ensure that food insecurity does not become a barrier to attaining achievement. He'll work closely with local organizations to expand opportunities.

  4. What steps will you take to improve inclusion and outcomes for children with disabilities and their families in our community?

Ray sees opportunities to increase accessibility in parks, recreational facilities, and other public spaces. If elected, Ray will support city programs that provide resources, activities, and adaptive services for children with disabilities and their families.. He'll work with local organizations to expand access to support networks, improve awareness through public outreach, and enable more respite care. The goal - create a welcoming environment for children with disabilities and their families in our community.

  5. If elected, how will you use the resources of your new role to improve children's well-being and access to mental and behavioral health services?

Should he be elected Ray will use his role to partner with local groups and advocate for food security, improve access to mental and behavioral health services, and build more community mentor programs. By pooling resources across agencies and other municipalities, the region can work together to deliver services at scale.
