My mission is to create a thriving community where every child has access to quality education, safe recreational spaces, and supportive resources. I believe in fostering strong families through collaboration, transparency, and innovation, ensuring that all Santa Clara residents can thrive and contribute to a vibrant, inclusive future.

  1. Over 80% of voters polled say they want elected officials to prioritize children and families. What are the top three issues affecting our children and families and how will you make our region a place where all families can thrive?

The top three issues affecting our children and families are

    1. Access to quality education
    2. Safe recreational spaces
    3. Affordable healthcare.

To address these, I will advocate for increased funding for local schools to enhance educational resources and programs. I will collaborate with community organizations to develop safe play areas and parks, ensuring all children have a place to grow and thrive. Additionally, I will work towards expanding access to affordable healthcare services, supporting families in maintaining their well-being. By prioritizing these initiatives, we can create a community where every family has the resources they need to succeed and flourish.

  2. High quality childcare improves school readiness and parents' workforce participation. What will you do to improve access to high quality childcare and preschool programs in our diverse communities?

To improve access to high-quality childcare & preschool programs in Santa Clara, I will advocate for increased funding for local early childhood education initiatives. This includes partnering with the Santa Clara Unified School District to expand affordable, accredited childcare options in our neighborhoods.

I’ll support community centers that provide parenting workshops and resources, ensuring families are informed about available programs & financial assistance. Additionally, I will promote partnerships with local businesses to create on-site childcare solutions, helping parents balance work & family. Prioritize accessible early education which also empowers parents to fully engage.

  3. Much of the student achievement gap has been linked to the opportunity gap that children in low-income families and children of color confront (e.g., lack of access to healthy food, preschool, tutors, and enrichment activities). If elected, what will you do to increase equity of opportunity?

If elected, I will prioritize policies that address the opportunity gap faced by low-income families & children of color in Santa Clara. First, I will advocate for increased funding for free or low-cost preschool programs & after-school tutoring, ensuring all children have access to quality education.

I'll collaborate with local organizations to provide resources like healthy food options & enrichment activities, creating partnerships that expand access to extracurricular programs. Additionally, I’ll push for community engagement initiatives that amplify the voices of marginalized families, ensuring their needs are met. By fostering equity in opportunities, we can close the achievement gap.

  4. What steps will you take to improve inclusion and outcomes for children with disabilities and their families in our community?

To improve inclusion & outcomes for children with disabilities in Santa Clara, I will advocate for enhanced funding and resources for special education programs in local schools. This includes ensuring that all educators receive training in inclusive teaching practices and access to necessary support tools.

I will work to expand partnerships with community organizations that provide resources & services for families of children with disabilities, offering workshops and support networks. Additionally, I’ll promote accessible recreational programs & facilities to ensure all children can participate in community activities. By prioritizing inclusion and support, we can create thriving society.

  5. If elected, how will you use the resources of your new role to improve children's well-being and access to mental and behavioral health services?

If elected, I will prioritize children's well-being by advocating for increased funding for mental and behavioral health services in Santa Clara schools and community centers. I will collaborate with local health organizations to establish accessible counseling services and crisis intervention programs for children and families.

Additionally, I will work to implement training for teachers and staff to recognize and address mental health needs effectively. By promoting awareness and reducing stigma, we can create a supportive environment for open discussions about mental health. Together, we can ensure that every child has access to the resources they need to thrive emotionally and mentally,
