My mission is to ensure that children and families in Gilroy thrive in a safe, supportive community. I will advocate for strong public safety, quality education, and local services that support working families. By prioritizing smart economic growth, we can create opportunities that benefit future generations.

  1. Over 80% of voters polled say they want elected officials to prioritize children and families. What are the top three issues affecting our children and families and how will you make our region a place where all families can thrive?

The top three issues affecting children and families are housing affordability, public safety, and access to quality services like education and healthcare. I will prioritize smart housing solutions to ensure families can afford to live in Gilroy, invest in public safety to create safe neighborhoods, and support initiatives that expand local services. By fostering a thriving economy and maintaining a focus on accountability, we can make Gilroy a place where all families can succeed.

  2. High quality childcare improves school readiness and parents' workforce participation. What will you do to improve access to high quality childcare and preschool programs in our diverse communities?

Preschool programs are critical for setting a strong educational foundation, especially in our diverse communities. I will advocate for expanding access to affordable, high-quality preschool programs to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background. By partnering with local organizations and supporting funding for early childhood education, we can create inclusive programs that meet the unique needs of our community and promote long-term academic success.

  3. Much of the student achievement gap has been linked to the opportunity gap that children in low-income families and children of color confront (e.g., lack of access to healthy food, preschool, tutors, and enrichment activities). If elected, what will you do to increase equity of opportunity?

To close the opportunity gap, I will advocate for programs that provide low-income families and all children with better access to key resources like healthy food, preschool, and after-school enrichment activities. I’ll support partnerships with local organizations to expand these services and push for funding that ensures all children, regardless of background, have access to the tools they need for success. Equity must be a central focus to create a community where every child has the chance to thrive.

  4. What steps will you take to improve inclusion and outcomes for children with disabilities and their families in our community?

I will advocate for inclusive policies that ensure children with disabilities and their families have access to local resources and support, so parents don’t have to travel for services. This includes improving access to specialized education, increasing funding for support services, and ensuring public spaces are accessible. I’ll work with schools and local organizations to expand enrichment opportunities tailored to children with disabilities, ensuring they have the same opportunities for success and inclusion as every other child in Gilroy.

  5. If elected, how will you use the resources of your new role to improve children's well-being and access to mental and behavioral health services?

If elected, I will prioritize improving access to mental and behavioral health services for children by advocating for local partnerships with healthcare providers, schools, and community organizations. I will work to secure funding for expanding mental health programs within schools and make sure resources are available locally, so families don’t have to travel far for support. By increasing awareness, reducing stigma, and making these services more accessible, we can create a healthier, more supportive environment for our children’s well-being.
