As Morgan Hill’s candidate mayor, a seated council member, and a mother of three, my mission is to give every child an equal chance by advocating for access to affordable housing, quality education and healthcare. I believe in investing in the well-being of our children and families. I prioritize policies that uplift vulnerable communities.

  1. Over 80% of voters polled say they want elected officials to prioritize children and families. What are the top three issues affecting our children and families and how will you make our region a place where all families can thrive?

The top issues affecting children and families in Morgan Hill are affordable housing, access to quality education, and healthcare, including mental health services. I raise and vote in favor of policies that increase housing affordability and expand community educational programs including fentanyl awareness events. My policies aim to provide the foundation for positive outcomes for child education and health. By partnering with community organizations and leveraging state and county resources, I will work to build a support system that ensures every child and family has the means to succeed.

  2. High quality childcare improves school readiness and parents' workforce participation. What will you do to improve access to high quality childcare and preschool programs in our diverse communities?

I support initiatives aimed at improving access to childcare and preschool programs. Using my relationships with county, state and federal legislators, I will advocate for investment to help close gaps in childcare availability, especially in underserved communities of Morgan Hill. I prioritize culturally inclusive programs that meet the diverse needs of our families.

  3. Much of the student achievement gap has been linked to the opportunity gap that children in low-income families and children of color confront (e.g., lack of access to healthy food, preschool, tutors, and enrichment activities). If elected, what will you do to increase equity of opportunity?

As mayor, I will prioritize efforts to serve low-income and under-resourced communities through affordable housing. I will advocate for increased funding for community services that provide enrichment activities and mentorship programs tailored to our local community. Additionally, I will promote policies that connect families with support networks, empowering parents to actively participate in their children’s education and fostering a strong community partnership in Morgan Hill.

  4. What steps will you take to improve inclusion and outcomes for children with disabilities and their families in our community?

I will work with my colleagues to support initiatives that provide promote inclusive practices. I will advocate for Morgan Hill’s children with disabilities and that their families receive the necessary resources and support to more than survive will be central to my agenda.

  5. If elected, how will you use the resources of your new role to improve children's well-being and access to mental and behavioral health services?

As mayor, I will continue to advocate for increased funding for mental health programs and collaborate with representatives of schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations to expand access to behavioral health services. I will work to ensure that services are affordable and culturally sensitive, so that all children, regardless of background, have access to the support they need for their mental well-being.
